7 redenen waarom Sicilië je volgende vakantiebestemming wordt

1. Broodje met ijs

Laten we gelijk met eten beginnen. Dat is namelijk het allerbelangrijkste op Sicilië. En waarom niet gelijk met een toetje? Ooit een broodje met ijs gegeten? Zo niet: deze combo is echt de shit!

2. Helderblauw Water

Je kunt natuurlijk naar een prachtig Carabisch eiland gaan voor mooie stranden. Dan ben je waarschijnlijk wel gelijk broke na het kopen van je vliegticket. Een ticket naar Sicilië is goedkoper en de stranden zijn ook niet verkeerd. Hieronder zie je een foto van het eilandje Favignana.

3. Romantische en insta-waardige plekken

Sicilianen zijn romantisch - geloof me, ik kan erover meepraten - daarom lijkt het alsof alles al zo ingericht is voor dat soort momenten. Wil je indruk maken op je vriend of vriendin en punten scoren? Ga dan uit eten op een terrasje in Marzamemi of maak een romantische wandeling door de straatjes van Taormina, Noto of Ortigia.

4. Arancini

Arancini zijn hét streetfoodgerecht van Sicilië. Deze gefrituurde rijstballen zijn vaak gevuld met heerlijke ragù en mozzarella, maar tegenwoordig zijn er nog honderd andere, lekkere varianten. Soms lees ik dat ze 'Siciliaanse bitterballen' worden genoemd en dan word ik boos. Hier zit zoveel meer liefde en voorbereiding in.

5. Etna

Ben je een crazy avonturier? Dan komt het goed uit dat je op Sicilië de meest actieve vulkaan van Europa hebt, namelijk de Etna. Via verschillende organisaties kun je er bijvoorbeeld quadrijden of vulkaanskiën!

6. Griekse tempels

Ga je altijd op vakantie naar Griekenland en mis je het toch een beetje? No problem! Gelukkig zijn er op Sicilië nog genoeg ruïnes over van Griekse tempels, zoals in Selinunte.

The ruins of the city are located in the municipality of Castelvetrano, in the southern part of the province of Trapani. In the archaeological site, on the acropolis there are some temples along with other secondary buildings, while other temples are located on a hill not far away. Many buildings are ruined as a result of earthquakes that occurred in medieval times; however, some anastylosis interventions have allowed almost completely to rebuild Temple E (the so-called Temple of Hera), and to raise most of one of the long sides of Temple C. The sculptures found in the excavations of Selinunte are found above all in the National Archaeological Museum of Palermo.
