'Uncle Phil' overleden op 65-jarige leeftijd

James Avery, beter bekend als uncle Phil (Philip Banks) uit The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, is overleden. Alfonso Ribeiro, die bekend is als Carlton in de serie, maakte dit op Twitter bekend. James is op 65-jarige leeftijd in een ziekenhuis in Los Angeles overleden door complicaties. Hij was een aantal weken geleden een openhartoperatie ondergaan.

Naast Alfonso hebben ook Tatyana Ali (Ashley) en DJ Jazzy Jeff (Jazz) gereageerd op Twitter. Will heeft nog niks gezegd op social media. Zijn vrouw Jada Pinkett Smith heeft wel een bericht op Facebook geplaatst.

Avery was in 1980 voor het eerst op het witte doek te zien in de film The Blues Brothers. De acteur had hierin een bijrol als danser. Hij heeft ook stemmen ingesproken voor Shredder van de Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tekenfilm en de Iron Man serie uit 1990.
